2011 - 2012 Chequamegon Middle School
Students of the Month

Each month the middle school teachers select an 8th grade student who exemplifies the characteristics we like to encourage in our students.  These characteristics include honesty, kindness, helpfulness, hard work, respect, and dedication to the school.  This year's students of the month will be added monthly as they are chosen.  Congratulations to the following students for earning this important recognition.  See below for more information about how our Student of the Month is selected.

STUDENT OF THE MONTH SELECTION PROCESS

Each month Chequamegon Middle School recognizes one eighth grade student who exemplifies the characteristics we like to see in all students in our school.  This award is presented as an example to all students of our expectations and our definition of the requirements for success in the middle school and beyond.  These characteristics are based on some core values we share and we believe will serve our students well as they move into high school and adult life.  Eligibility is not based on grades, but rather on the student’s possession of a variety of positive characteristics.   The following criteria are used when selecting our student of the month.

The student of the month is:
  • Respectful - The student treats classmates, teachers and staff with respect by valuing each as an individual, respecting differences, and valuing the work that others do.
  • Honest - The student communicates truthfully and in a respectful way with classmates, teachers, staff and refrains from dishonesty in completing academic work.
  • Committed to success - The student strives for success in all they do and works to the best of their ability.
  • Responsible - The student embraces the responsibility required to maintain progress in their schoolwork and other personal goals.
  • Positive - The student contributes to the success of the school by promoting a positive school climate through their actions and words.

Each month, middle school teachers are asked to nominate five students they believe are worthy of this award.  The votes are then tallied and the student receiving the most nominations is designated as that month’s Chequamegon Middle School’s Student of the Month.
