The BYOD initiative is going well.  Students have handled this change in practice well and the Glidden Campus has had no major problems to date.

Activities at the Glidden Campus
  • The middle school will be holding its annual Spring Fling Dance on Saturday, April 28.  This event is led by parents with my support and that of the Glidden Campus staff.  The dance is a semi-formal event and is held in the band room of the Glidden Campus.  Parents and students have been busy making decorations and finalizing other details.  The dance times are 7:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m.  You are invited to stop by and see our students looking dressy and all grown up.  It is a sight to see!!
  • Sarah Kovach (Wallow) is planning transition events for our 2nd and 3rd graders who will be going to PF next year, as well at the 5th grade students who will be joining us at the Glidden Campus.
  • The 7th and 8th grade band will be taking an overnight trip to Wisconsin Dells for a band workshop and some fun at the Kalahari.  This event is paid for through student fund raising.
  • The Glidden Campus Spring Arts Festival will take place on May 8.  This will include a spaghetti dinner, art show, music concert, and other educational displays of student work.
  • Year end field trips are being planned at this time.
  • We will be administering the third round of STAR assessments for this school year beginning on April 23.  This data helps us plan interventions for struggling students.
  • The 8th grade class trip plans are finalized.  The students will be going to Wisconsin Dells for two days.  The trip supervisors have planned some great activities for them.  This trip is entirely paid for through fund raising events sponsored by the middle school students and staff.  Students begin fund raising when they enter 6th grade to pay for their 8th grade trip.  Students earn points toward their trip or are given the option to pay for their trip out of pocket.

The Chequamegon Middle School Student of the Month for April is Emily Ocker.  Emily is the daughter of Jon and Suzy Ocker. Congratulations Emily!!
