                                                      8th GRADE CLASS TRIP
                                   ACADEMIC AND BEHAVIORAL REQUIREMENTS

The 8th grade students will be offered the opportunity to participate in a class trip at the end of the school year.  Student participation is a privilege and must be earned by meeting minimum requirements in academics, behavior and fund raising efforts.   The guidelines listed below will be used to determine each student’s eligibility to participate in the 8th grade class trip.  Individual student eligibility will be determined by a committee of teachers and the building principal.
Students are required to follow academic eligibility guidelines listed below:

  • Students must have a 2.0 grade point average or above for the first, second, and third quarter of the school year.  Students receiving a grade point average below 2.0 in any quarter will be required to show significant improvement in the next quarter to be eligible.
  • Students must be receiving a grade point average of at least 2.0 for 4th quarter grades.  These grades will be checked two days before the trip date to determine eligibility to participate in the trip.
  • Students receiving a quarter grade of “F” in any subject in any of the first three quarter will be required to show improvement to at least a grade of “C” in the next quarter to be considered for trip participation.  A grade of “F” in the fourth quarter will disqualify a student.
Behavioral – these requirements will pertain to 3rd and 4th quarter only.
  • Students who have had two or more offenses as outlined in the Rules for Technology Use are not eligible for the trip.
  • Students receiving more than two detentions in second semester will not be eligible.
  • Students with more than two unexcused absences for second semester will not be eligible.
  • Any student participating in the following behaviors will not be eligible:
    • Fighting
    • Substance use (alcohol, tobacco, other drugs, etc.) in or out of school
    • Disrespect for teachers, bus drivers, and other school personnel
    • Any other behavior deemed unacceptable by the determination committee
  • Students receiving an out-of-school school suspension for any reason will not be eligible.
